What We Do
Alison O'Hara founded True North Kayak Adventures in 1992. The professional staff of Jen, Ben, Mona, Scott, Alder and Sailin are eager to share their part of the world with you. Each of our guides is safety and rescue trained. True North is the only tour company in Homer that only offers kayaking.

Services Provided
All of our trips include a water taxi ride to Yukon Island, a professional and courteous guide, instruction, all kayak equipment and a snack or lunch depending on the duration of your excursion. You will need to bring a full water bottle, layered clothing (quick-dry or fleece jacket and pants, long underwear (if its cold), warm dry socks, a hat to keep your lid warm in cool weather and rain gear if necessary. You should also remember sunscreen, sunglasses and the all important camera! Our overnight trips can last up to 6 days (or more, upon request). Be sure you visit our website to see what you should pack. Overnight packages include visits to Tutka Bay, Sardie Cove, Hesketh Island and State Park Yurts.

Rentals begin as low as $45 per day and include a water taxi ride to our base camp, a PFD, spray skirt, kayak paddle, and a pump & sponge.

BE sure to visit our website to learn more about our many tour offerings. Enjoy a day of hiking through Old Growth Forest, Glacial Moraine and glacial lake. As you hike, you will be surrounded by mountains and breathtaking views. Our guided tour takes you by puffin rookery, hanging glaciers and fjords. You will see eagles, sea caves and sea otters. We offer tours of the Saddle Trailhead on Yukon Island. Touring Kachemak Bay by kayak is a great way to see remote beaches, marine mammals and several sea bird nests.
